Link your Mastodon or Threads account
Show the Mastodon or Threads account you already have on your profile, get it verified, and credit it when your articles are shared
If you already have an account on Mastodon or Threads and want to keep it, link it to your Peakub profile. This doesn't turn on a Peakub address on the fediverse (see Be followed from the fediverse), and you can do one without the other.
Add an account
In your account Settings, open the Fediverse tab and find Accounts you
already have. Choose Add an account, paste your profile address, for example
https://mastodon.social/@you, and choose Add. You can link up to five.
Each account starts as Not verified yet.
Get it verified
To prove the account is yours, add your Peakub profile address to the links of that account. The tab shows your address under Accounts you already have, ready to copy. Then choose Check now. Peakub looks for the link on the account's page, and the account becomes Verified. Mastodon then shows your Peakub profile as verified too.
Threads pages can't be checked this way, so a Threads account shows Cannot be checked and is listed without a check.
Credit it on your articles
In Add an account, switch on Credit this account on my articles. When someone shares a link to one of your articles on Mastodon, the preview shows this account as the author. Only one account is credited at a time.
Remove it
Remove takes an account off your profile at once.
If it stays Not verified yet
The line under the account says why the check failed:
- We did not find a link back to your Peakub profile on that page. Add your Peakub profile address to the links of that account, using the address shown under Accounts you already have, then choose Check now again.
- We could not open that page. Try again later.
- That address is not a public page or That is not a profile address. Paste the public address of your profile, such as
https://mastodon.social/@you. - Choose your Peakub profile address first. Your Peakub profile needs an address before it can be linked back.
The link must be on the account's own page and visible without signing in.
