What the numbers in your Studio show, and how to read them
Peakub counts what happens on your publication and shows it in two places: the Dashboard in your Studio, which is about the whole publication, and the Insights button on a single piece, which is about that piece. This page walks through both. The other pages in this section explain how the numbers are counted, where readers come from, what you can and can't see per subscriber level, and what Peakub collects from your readers.
Peakub's counting is new. It started recording on 8 October 2026, so there is almost no history yet and no month-by-month comparison to look at. Figures from before that date were counted under older rules, so don't set them side by side with newer ones. The numbers will get more useful as the weeks add up.
Words used on these pages
- Visitor: one browser that has opened your publication, for readers who accepted "Performance & analytics" in the cookie banner. Peakub tells browsers apart with a small random identifier that exists only for them (see Tracking and privacy). A person who reads on their phone and on their laptop is two visitors. Readers who declined are not visitors, but their views and reads are counted.
- View: one time a page of yours was opened.
- Read: a view of a piece of yours (an article, a zine, a page, a coverage and so on), as opposed to a view of some other page of Peakub. The Insights panel of a piece calls these "Views".
- Reader: a visitor who read at least one piece in the period you are looking at. Ten reads by the same visitor are ten views and one reader. Like visitors, readers only include those who accepted analytics.
- Reaction: a like, a comment or another answer from a reader to a piece.
- Subscriber: someone who subscribed to your publication, free or paid.
The pages that follow add a few more: channel, surface, impression and tier.
The Dashboard
Open your publication in Studio and stay on the Dashboard tab. The blocks that carry numbers are these.
Audience. Your number of subscribers, then the Free subscribers and Paid subscribers lines. The total counts every level, so it can be higher than the two lines added together if you have members on a higher level, which don't get a line of their own. Below them, Daily active users counts today's visitors and Monthly active users the visitors of the last 30 days. They count distinct visitors who accepted analytics, leaving out your own activity and automated traffic.
Content Performance. "Interactions per article" is the average number of recorded actions (reads, reactions and so on) per piece of your publication. Creations is the real total of your articles and pages. Email clicks counts clicks on the links in your emails, and these clicks are counted for the sender's newsletter statistics. Peakub doesn't record whether an email was opened (see Where readers come from). The block leaves out your own activity and automated traffic. Total comments counts the comments left under your publication.
Revenue. The total of the payments recorded for your publication, then Daily Recurring Revenue (subscription payments recorded today) and Monthly Recurring Revenue (subscription payments recorded this calendar month). Two more blocks, Daily revenue and Monthly revenue, draw the same payments as bars over the last few days or months. These are amounts as recorded for each payment. For how payments, fees and payouts work, see Monetization.
Templates. Which of your page, zine and coverage templates keeps readers. Each row gives a template, the number of Pieces made with it, its Readers and its Views each. The list is sorted on views each, not on total views, because a template you used forty times would otherwise always beat one you used twice. It shows the eight best, over the last 30 days. If the block says no template has been read over this period, it means nothing was measured, not that every template scored zero.
Distribution. A world map of where your readers are. It is empty for now: see "What isn't there yet" below.
Leaderboard. Three of the people with the most recorded actions on your publication, with their names and pictures. Every kind of action counts, so a reader who comments and likes a lot will rank above one who only reads. The three are listed from the most active down.
Insights on a single piece
On the rows of your articles, zines, pages, coverages, events and blurbs, the chart icon (named "Insights" when you hover it) opens a panel about that one piece. The same icon on a book club suite, a rubric or a series opens a panel about everything inside it: what all its pieces got, not how often its own page was opened.
The panel looks at the last 30 days. At the top, one sentence sums it up, for example "412 reads from 180 people, mostly from email, strongest in France". The channel is only named when it clearly leads (more than 60% of the activity), and the country when there is one. Under it:
- Readers: how many different visitors read it.
- Views: how many times it was read, by anyone.
- Reactions: likes, comments and other answers.
- From email: activity that came through a link in an email.
- Where they read it: your top five countries, when location is known.
If nothing was read, the panel says "Nothing read yet over this period". If the figures can't be fetched at that moment it says "These figures are temporarily unavailable". Elsewhere in the Studio, a dash (—) in place of a figure means the same thing: Peakub could not measure it right then. It is never a zero in disguise.
Under the figures, the Newsletter tab lists the people the email went to, with a status for each ("Not processed yet", "Delivered" or "Opened") and their country. It may be empty or incomplete: see the limits below.
What isn't there yet
- Where your readers are. The Distribution map and the country lines depend on knowing a reader's country. Geography is only starting to fill in, so expect gaps and don't rely on it yet. A city is shown only when the location is precise enough to name one.
- Readers who declined analytics. They are counted in views and reads, but not as visitors or readers. See How views, reads and visitors are counted.
- A visitor on a custom domain is a different visitor from the same person on peakub.com, because the identifier can't cross domains.
- Email opens. Clicks in emails are recorded. Opens are not, so the "Opened" status in the Newsletter tab, and the delivery status next to it, can't be relied on yet.
- Impressions and click-through rates. An impression is one time a card or a link was shown to a reader, whether or not they clicked. Peakub doesn't record these, so it can't tell you what share of the people who saw something clicked on it.
- How far readers scrolled, or how long they stayed. A "read" means the piece was opened.
- Growth over time and comparison with earlier periods. There isn't enough history yet.
- Widgets and the mobile app. Only reading on the website is counted.
