The Subscribers tab
Your list of subscribers in Studio, how to import and export it, the settings that go with it, and what you can see about each person
Studio > Audience > Subscribers is the list of everyone who receives your
publication: who they are, what they pay and how to reach them. This page
covers the tab itself. Grouping people is in
Labels and
Segments.
The buttons beside the list
Four buttons sit together next to the summary:
- Previous imports shows what you imported before.
- Import subscribers opens the import window. Create > Import subscribers, in Studio's left menu or the top bar, opens the same one. See Start from scratch and add things yourself.
- Settings opens the Subscribers settings, described below. They are also in All settings.
- Help opens the guide for this tab, without leaving Studio.
Settings
The Subscribers settings have four parts. Press Save to keep them.
- Labels for every new subscriber takes one or several labels, with New label to make one on the spot. They are put on everyone who subscribes by themselves from then on. They are not put on imported people, who keep the labels of their import.
- Who sees the subscribers is Owners and editors (the default) or Owners only. It applies to the list, to its export and to each subscriber's insights. Only the publication's owners can change it; for an editor the choice is greyed out.
- When someone subscribes with only their email chooses what happens when a reader types just an address on your publication: Ask them to confirm (the default), Welcome them or Nothing. See Subscribing with only an email.
- Under them, a row of switches chooses what the CSV export holds besides each address: Name, Status, Subscription, Labels and Subscribed on. The email address is always in the file.
Export the list
Export CSV, above the table, downloads the list as it is filtered: everyone, one label's subscribers or one segment's, with the columns you chose in the settings. See Segments.
To take everything the publication holds, not only the list, see Export your data.
Insights on one subscriber
Each row has an Insights button. It opens a window about that person:
- Who they are: their email, status, when they subscribed, where they came from, whether they have an account, their language and country when known, how many rubrics or series they muted, their labels and their segments.
- What they pay: Free if they have no paid plan here, otherwise each plan with its status and when it started, ends or renews.
- What they did: how many likes, comments and other reactions they left on your publication, and when they were last active.
- Sent to them: the emails they received from you.
It doesn't tell you what they read, whether they opened or clicked your emails, or the total they have paid. Those wait on decisions about consent. Who can open it follows Who sees the subscribers.
