What the list opened from your avatar tells you, how lines fold together, and what seen and read mean
The list you open from your avatar is your inbox. It tells you when someone liked, commented on, replied to, reposted or rated something of yours, when someone mentioned you or followed you, when someone subscribed to your publication or recommended it, and when a publication you subscribe to has a new piece.
Folded lines
Lines of the same kind fold into one, such as "Eva and 3 others liked your post". Each line shows a small picture of what it is about and opens it.
Seen and read
Opening the inbox marks everything as seen and clears the badge on your avatar. A line keeps a dot until you open it, which marks it read. The badge counts what is still unread.
Notifications are kept for a year.
