Glossary

Peakub terms, defined

Terms used across this site and in Peakub itself, in one place.

Studio

The creator-facing dashboard for managing a publication - writing, the Website tab, Revenue, and publication-level settings all live here.

Publication

The top-level container for a creator's writing: its name, description, cover art, and the posts, series, and pages published under it.

Post

A single piece of writing - the basic unit of content on Peakub.

Series

A group of related posts under a shared theme or arc, followable independently of the wider publication.

Blurb

A small chunk of reusable content - a bio, a call-to-action, a recurring note - written once and reused across pages, articles, and emails.

Book club

A space for a group to read and discuss a book (or topic) together over time, distinct from a standard publication feed.

Coverage

A piece of writing about a specific book - a review, analysis, or discussion prompt - tied to a book club's current read.

Follow vs. subscribe

Following a publication adds it to your feed. Subscribing additionally gets you its new posts by email - the two aren't the same thing, and you can do either independently.

Pledge

The underlying mechanism behind tips and subscriptions - a reader committing money to a creator, one-off or recurring.

Wallet

A creator's balance, transaction history, and payouts - where money from tips, subscriptions, and one-time payments ends up. See Wallet.

Unique identifier

The short, lowercase handle that names a publication in URLs - youridentifier.peakub.com, and the address of every post under it. Picked when the publication is created, and unique across Peakub: two publications can share a name, but never an identifier.

Custom domain

Serving a publication from a domain you own (yourname.com) instead of its peakub.com subdomain. See Custom Domains.
