Your pages and menu
See every page of your site, choose what shows in the menu, publish or remove a page, and add links to other sites
The Navigation block of Studio's Website tab lists every page of your site and decides what your readers' menu holds. Above the list are two buttons: "New Page" (see Adding a page) and "New link".
What the list shows
Pages are split in two lists:
- Visible in the menu: the pages and links in your menu, in the order readers see them.
- Not visible in the menu: pages that exist but aren't in the menu. They're still on your site, at their own address, if they're published.
Each row shows the page's name, its address ("/about-us"), and a line on what the page holds, like "3 sections · 2 galleries" (sections, galleries, videos, audios, links and discussions). A draft page carries a "Draft" label. If you renamed a page and haven't published yet, the row shows the new name with a "Not published" label: your readers' menu keeps the published name until you publish.
Click a row to open the page in the editor.
The Navigation block: pages in and out of the menu.
What each row lets you do
- Reorder (pages in the menu only): drag the grip, or use the keyboard. The order is the one readers see. Home always stays first.
- Show in the menu / Hide from the menu: the eye moves a page from one list to the other.
- Publish: the round icon opens the page's publish window, the same as the editor's. It shows how many changes aren't published yet. You can publish, unpublish or archive the page from here without opening it.
- Edit: the pencil opens the page in the editor.
- Open in a new tab: the arrow shows the page as readers see it.
- Remove the page: the bin removes the page, after you confirm. Readers won't find it any more, and it leaves your menu.
Changes to the order and to what's visible are saved with the Save button at the bottom of the block. Publishing and removing a page, and everything about links, take effect straight away.
Pages in the footer
Archive and Leaderboard aren't shown in the menu bar. Once they're published and in "Visible in the menu", they appear in a row of links at the foot of every page of your site instead.
Adding a link to another site
"New link" adds a link to another website to your menu: a shop, a podcast player, your other newsletter. It's for other websites only. To put your own content in the menu (an article, a rubric, a book club), pin it instead: see Pins.
The window has two parts:
- Write a link. "Where does it go?" takes the address, "What does the menu call it?" the name, and you can add a thumbnail. Use "Add".
- Or pick one of your links. Under the form, "Or one of your links" lists the links you've already saved, with a search by name or address. Click one and it's added at once.
Links you add are kept for later, so you only write each one once: see Blurbs.
A link row shows a link icon and where it goes. Its pencil ("Edit the link") changes it, its arrow opens it, and its bin removes it from your menu, after you confirm. Removing it from the menu keeps the saved link.
