Notices, appeals and your reports
See what was decided about your content, appeal a decision, and follow what came of your own reports
When a creator or Peakub restricts something of yours, you are told what was done, why, and how to contest it. The same goes the other way: you can follow what happened to what you reported.
When your post or comment is held or hidden
A comment or a post of yours can wait for a creator's approval, or be hidden by them. Only you (and the publication's team) see it so. Next to it a small badge says Waiting for approval or Hidden by followed by the publication's name. Click the badge to open the notice.
A comment can be held for a few reasons, and the notice names the one that applied: it was your first comment in that publication, the publication holds every comment, it has a link or a word the publication watches, it came from the fediverse, you posted a lot in a short time, or Peakub restricted your account.
Your moderation notices
Settings, Moderation, Moderation notices lists, newest first, every decision about your content or your account: what was decided, who decided (the publication or Peakub), the reason, and what the person wrote to explain it. Each notice shows where its appeal stands.
Appeal a decision
Choose Appeal this decision on a notice, or open the link of a notice
(/moderation/appeal/ followed by the notice's number). Under Why do you
think this decision is wrong?, say why and choose Send appeal.
- You can appeal a decision for six months, once.
- Someone other than the person who decided reviews it. Appeals against a creator's decision are reviewed by Peakub, since a creator reviewing their own decision would not be a second look.
- The notice then reads Appeal sent, waiting for a review, and later Appeal reviewed: the decision stands or Appeal reviewed: the decision was reversed. A reversed decision restores what was hidden or removed.
- An appeal's outcome cannot be appealed again.
Your reports
Settings, Moderation, My reports lists what you reported, newest first, with the reason and where it stands: Waiting for a review, Acted on or Dismissed. What you reported is named when it is still on Peakub; once it is removed, only the reason is shown. Only you see this list, and reports made through the public form for illegal content are not in it.
If a report was dismissed and you think it should not have been, choose Ask for a second look. You can do it once per report. Someone other than who dismissed it looks again, and the report then reads Second look: the case was opened again or Second look: the dismissal stands.
See Report, block and mute for how to report.
