Subscribing and paying with an email
Subscribe to a publication with only your email, pay for a plan, and come back later
You can subscribe to a publication on Peakub with only your email address. You don't need to create an account first.
Subscribe
On the publication, press Subscribe. A small form asks for your email. Type it and press Subscribe to the publication's name.
What happens next is each publication's choice:
- A link to confirm. You see Check your email. Open the email and press the button: you are subscribed and signed in. Until you do, you receive nothing from the publication.
- A welcome. You are subscribed and signed in at once, and a welcome email arrives. It has a one-click unsubscribe, and a this wasn't me link if someone typed your address by mistake. That link removes it and stops anyone subscribing it to that publication again.
- Nothing. You are subscribed and signed in at once, without any email.
If you already have a Peakub account, typing your email doesn't sign you in. You get Check your email and a link that signs you in and subscribes you. You can also press Have a Peakub account? Sign in under the form.
When a publication keeps something for subscribers
A publication can keep part of a piece for its subscribers, free or paid. You see a card where the text stops: a person in a circle, "Subscribe to keep reading", "The rest is for subscribers. Subscribing is free." and the publication's Subscribe button. Press it, type your email, and the rest opens as soon as your subscription counts. It asks for no payment.
If you are signed in and subscribed, you read it straight away. Typing an address never opens it for someone else's account.
Some publications ask you to confirm your email first. If you subscribed but haven't clicked the link yet, if you were added by the publication and haven't accepted, or if your email isn't verified, the card says Confirm your subscription, with "Verify your email to read what is kept for subscribers" or "Confirm your subscription to read what is kept for subscribers". The button then reads Verify your email or Confirm your subscription (Accept invitation if you were added by the publication). Do that step and the rest opens.
Pay for a plan
Press Subscribe (or Upgrade if you're already a free subscriber), pick a plan, then answer Where do you pay from? by choosing a country among those we serve. The country we detect from your connection is only the starting choice. It decides which payment account the charge goes through, and it can't be changed after your first payment. Then Stripe's card form opens.
Free subscribers don't become payment customers: that only happens when you start to pay.
Come back later
You have no password. To sign in again, ask for a sign-in link: type your email, open the email and follow its link, or enter the code it holds. Use the same email you subscribed with, or you won't see your subscription.
Manage or cancel
Once you subscribe, the publication's button reads Subscribed. Press it to open your subscription: your current plan is marked, you can change plan, or choose Or cancel my subscription. You are asked to confirm, and the subscription stays until the end of the period you paid for.
Stop the emails
Every email has an unsubscribe link. It only stops that publication's emails.
